Simplicity 1609

I was the lucky winner of Simplicity 1609 a giveaway by Pendle Stitches.  I finished the dress ages ago but have only today got down to taking a pic.  The dress is made from a navy lightweight wool pinstripe, the fabric was from my stash. I have also got a jacket and skirt on my UFO rail just waiting for me to finish the hems etc from the same fabric.  I don't tend to see navy as a Winter fabric so hopefully I can finish the jacket and skirt by early Spring.   I bought the fabric ages ago from the factory shop of a famous Somerset bag maker. They not only make designer bags but fabulous clothes as well.  Many years ago the factory shop had fabulous fabrics by the metre.  But then then the shop went up market and stopped selling fabrics! The collar is a fabulous silk, I was lucky to buy several metres from a charity shop in Totnes when I was on holiday a couple of years ago.  The remainder of the fabric is waiting for a blouse pattern to come along and say hello.  The pics don't really do the dress justice,  I am not sure that the WWW is ready for me as a model just yet.  Happy sewing everyone.

At last I have got down to taking some pics of finished items, the pics don't do them justice. I hope you like them.

Butterick 5566 Stripe jersey from Minerva Crafts black wool from my stash.

Jersey fabric from Minerva Crafts, McCalls 6612, version D with sleeves.  The fabric was a bit heavy for the cowl so made the cowl smaller than the pattern.  Great fabric for this pattern.

 

 

This is a fabulous lightweight wool with the last bit of the jersey.  This is a UFO and the same pattern as the blue tunic below.  It was meant to be a black dress but after I had cut it out and started to make it up  I noticed a flaw in the bottom of the dress I thought I could make a tunic but decided it would look good with the jersey panel.

 

Jersey fabric from Minerva Crafts, McCalls 6612, version D with sleeves.  This is a more lightweight fabric than the camel stripe, it could probably have done with lining, the cowl is bigger than the camel stripe. 

This is a fabulous wool tunic, looks better on, from my UFO pile, can't find the pattern at the moment.  Looks great with a black polo neck and black boots.
